Previous Name: Jean Grey
Myth: X-Men new movieverse/MCU adjacent - Apocalypse
Past Life Information: Jean was a student at Xavier's school for those with mutant gifts. Her classmates tended to fear, distrust or dislike her because her mutant powers -- her telekinesis and especially her telepathy -- seemed out of control and bordering on frightening. Certainly, Jean has spent a lot of time being frightened by the depths of her power, how unknowable it is, how impossible it is to control. Plus, there's this force -- well, that's what it feels like -- this dark force that wants to consume her entirely. The force seems to emerge as part of her during a particularly intense battle, but it remains to be seen what the shape of this power means for Jean -- and for the world. Meanwhile, there's this guy, Scott Summers, who has caught her eye. Maybe that could be something, if they don't all die first.
Current Name: Katie Fry
Age: 24
Occupation: Artist and set designer
Personality: Katie doesn't actually mean to be a loner, it's just that she's so busy living inside her own mind. She's a daydreamer, and she's also that person who has imaginary conversations with everyone she knows and then gets a little ticked off if they don't respond according to the script Jean had invented on her own, like, in the shower or sitting on the bus. There's just so much in her own imagination to keep her company (classic introvert nonsense) that she sometimes forgets to let other people in. She's pretty content with that, though, and the friends she does have she loves dearly. She holds grudges and is moody, but she's also both pragmatic and kind: she's not going to sugarcoat bad news, but she will hold you after you receive it.
Background: Her whole life, Katie has been drawing, painting -- creating new stories and landscapes out of nothing. It's her favorite thing in the world. Her family is frequently baffled by her (they are NOT creative people) and they really want to know when she's going to stop playing around and get a real job. But the thing is, Katie would rather die. She had to support herself through her BFA at Tulane, working three jobs, but it was completely worth it. She wants to complete an MFA, too, but wants to save money first, although that's not exactly easy as an artist. She's fallen into set and costume design work for regional theater, which doesn't really pay but is fun, and she's had a couple DIY art shows, and she paints murals for the city and sometimes caricatures for tourists when the funds are getting low. She has a retail gig, but don't ask her about it. What matters most to her is her art.
